Houston Arbor Day
Cypress Creek

4,000

Join your community and several area partners on Houston's Arbor Day, January 22nd. We will be planting native trees that will help protect water quality and community health.

When

There are two shifts (either from 9:00 am to 10:30am or 11:00 am to 12:30pm). You can register for one or both!

Where

We will be meeting at Harris County Precinct 4's Kickerillo-Mischer Park (20215 Chasewood Park Dr, Houston, TX 77070). Please check-in at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve, under the tents near the restrooms.

Volunteers are encouraged to carpool to the Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve and park a half-hour before they are registered to plant.

We will be planting in two locations with ample space between volunteers. Each location includes a short walk. We will have the tools you need and a knowledgeable leader giving planting demonstrations at the location.

Who
All are welcome to volunteer with us! Children are welcome to volunteer with an adult. You may also volunteer with a team - just make sure to all register and check-in together.

Planting Details

Holes will be pre-dug and there will be various sizes and species of trees to plant. The number of trees you can expect to plant will vary based on the sizes of trees . In general, you can expect to plant between 20 and 40 trees. Trowels, gloves, and shovels will be provided.

What to wear/bring with you
Please wear closed-toed shoes, clothing that can get dirty, and sun protection. Bring reusable water bottles - we will have refill stations.

Although there is a curb to jump at Chasewood Crossing there is more parking space available in this location. Volunteers will be at this location to facilitate the parking and not cause confusion. Attached is the map showing the parking and planting area for the Chasewood Crossing location. The closest address to the location is 14210 Prestonwood Forest Dr, Houston, TX 77070.

There is also parking at Kickerillo Mischer Preserve.  There will be tents setup with volunteers in this location as well.
