Become a Spring Creek Greenway Ambassador!

The Spring Creek Greenway Ambassador program is our free adult environmental education program. We offer this program twice a year with five classes held on weeknights and weekends. As an Ambassador, you will learn about the unique features of the local ecology and all the exciting work that BLC does. After completing the program, you will have a better understanding of what’s in your backyard, how to protect and preserve the greenway, and how you can get involved in the amazing work that BLC does.

Ambassador Curriculum:

  • Orientation -  introduction to Bayou Land Conservancy and land trusts

  • Local flora/fauna identification

  • Access points of the Greenway

  • Watershed 101

  • Wetlands education

  • Recognition and removal of invasive species

  • How to blaze and maintain low-impact trails

  • Kayaking and pond studies

Thank you to our Class Underwriter

BLC is providing a unique opportunity for corporate partners to support one of our most popular adult education trainings, The Spring Creek Greenway Ambassador Program. This sponsorship allows the corporation to become more engaged in BLC's land conservation mission with a monetary donation, as well as allowing for their employees to participate in the program. Corporate support help us continue to grow this program and keep it free to our community in Harris and Montgomery Counties. For more details on how you can become an underwriter for a future Ambassador Training class, please email

Spring Creek Nature Trail Stewards

Ambassadors can adopt a section of the Spring Creek Nature Trail to monitor and maintain for at least a year. The Ambassador Program will teach sustainable trail maintenance techniques, invasive plant identification, and proper safety protocols. Trail Stewards help BLC by serving as the eyes, ears, and boots on the ground along the 14-mile Spring Creek Nature Trail.

Conservation Crew

Our most advanced and technical training, Ambassadors that are interested in the annual monitoring of our preserves can train to become Conservation Crew members. The Conservation Crew helps us meet our perpetual stewardship obligations by visiting certain assigned preserves every year and observing any changes or concerns, including potential trespass or encroachment. Advanced training, including technological guidance, is provided for interested Ambassadors. New Conservation Crew members can be paired with a Crew “mentor” to learn the ropes of stewardship.
